Merivale interior designer shares her secrets

9 May, 2016

Amanda Talbot is the Merivale interior designer behind some of Sydney’s most successful – and beautiful- restaurants, bars and pubs. The Merivale Group’s Coogee Pavilion, The Paddington and The Newport have all had the Amanda Talbot treatment. Her work shows layered interiors that tell a story and put the customer at the heart of the design. In this episode of At Home with Lauren Keenan we sat down with Amanda to talk about those amazing venues. Plus, Amanda took us through her design process as the from concept through to the day the patrons start walking through the door.

Plus, she gives us an exclusive sneak peek at her latest project, a Merivale bar called Fred’s, which she says is like no other Sydney restaurant.

As well as being the Merivale interior designer, Amanda is well known as an interiors trends forecaster. It was fascinating to get the low-down on how the trends we all know and love actually come about. She says the key to trend forecasting is being curious…about everything. Plus, we also chat about her time as an Associate Editor at Elle Decoration UK and the two design books she has written – Happy and Rethink.
