Home office design
With more and more people working remotely these days, home office design is more important than ever. As well as being a space for those working from home, an office is also an excellent space for the kids to complete their homework and for you to tick off home admin.
And a study can come in all shapes and sizes. You might have a dedicated spare room that you can convert into a home office. Or perhaps you have a study nook off your kitchen or hallway.
While an office is a great addition to any home, the design needs to be approached carefully to ensure it functions efficiently and doesn’t become a dumping ground.
I’ll work with you to create a comprehensive list of what you need in your home office. This includes things like technology and hardware, storage, seating and workspace. I’ll then come up with an action plan that meets your brief. If budget allows, custom cabinetry is a great option for your home office design. Having something made specifically for your space means it’s going to function exactly as you need it to. This is particularly important if you are running a business from your home office.
Although a study is essentially a workspace, I still like to make sure that the design is in keeping with the look and feel of the rest of your home. It’s also a good idea to include soft furnishings like a nice occasional chair, cushions, throws and artwork if space allows. These can be based on your preferred design style, for instance, Hamptons or Modern Country.
