What style of homes do you design?
I work with clients in a variety of properties, from free-standing multi-level properties to large terraced homes and apartments. I specialise in modern coastal and modern country design styles, which are so well suited to Australian living. Having said that, your design preferences are always top of mind as I design.
What type of clients do you work with?
Whether it is families, couples, or singles, all my clients value expert advice and want a home they will love to live in and can be proud of. They want to elevate the way they live by investing in creating a beautiful home.
What kind of budget do I need?
At our initial design consultation we discuss your budget and what can be achieved. I’ll always be transparent about how much you will need to spend to create a beautiful home. And I can show you how to spend your budget effectively for the best results.
How much do you charge?
I charge $425 for an initial 90-min design consultation (extra charges may apply outside of Illawarra, Sutherland Shire and Southern Highlands). Following that meeting I provide a detailed quote outlining the scope of work and my fee. I charge a project fee, rather than an hourly rate. Every project is different, and no two will cost the same.
How do you work with your clients?
Step 1: Discovery call - to work out if we’re a good fit for each other as client and designer.
Step 2: 90 min consultation - we meet in your home and I take a brief from you. Afterwards I provide you with a detailed quote for how we will work together.
Step 3: Concept development - I create the overall look and feel for your approval before sourcing any specific items, products, trades or finishes.
Step 4: Product specification and procurement - I prepare all the documentation and finer details for your approval prior to shopping.
Step 5: Install and styling - Once all your items have arrived, I return to your home to ensure everything is properly set up, installed and styled for a beautiful finish.
How long does the interior design process take?
Every project is different and timing does depend on the scale of the project.
As a guide, for new build and renovations projects you can expect a timeframe of around 5-6 weeks for me to make selections and prepare documentation for you to provide to your builder. It is generally beneficial to start working together before your plans are submitted to council. I’ll be involved at multiple points throughout your build where you and your builder need additional support and advice.
For interior decoration projects where I am sourcing furniture and decor, we may often be working together for a number of months. It generally takes 3-4 weeks to make selections, and there is additional time needed to complete the shopping and install and style your home.
Can I use some of my existing furniture or artworks?
Of course! You might have existing items that either have great sentimental value, or that you have invested in. There is usually a way to work these into a new design scheme. That’s the sort of thing we will talk about at the initial design consultation.
What areas do you service?
I work in the Illawarra, Sutherland Shire, Southern Sydney and Southern Highlands. I also work with clients in other areas from time-to-time for the right project, but additional charges apply.
How do you know what I will like?
During the initial design consultation, I’m going to get to know you, your design preferences and how you would like to live in your home. We will look at inspiration images and ideas, supplier websites and more, to really get a good understanding of what you want to achieve. My job is to take what you’ve told me and create a design that meets and exceeds your expectations.
