One of the perks of being an interiors stylist is getting a sneak peak at the latest trends for the new season. Yesterday I attended Life Instyle, a trade show for interiors, homewares and furniture, and I thought I’d give you the inside scoop on what to expect this season.     Firstly, there are still a few trends we know and love that are STILL going strong. Marble. Tick. Concrete. Tick. Brass. Tick. Scandi. Tick tick. So rest assured, you don’t need to replace everything! Maybe just a little tweaking here and there. What I did notice is that there really seems to be a new spin on some of these old faves. I’m going to call it ‘natural luxe’. So what’s new this winter with ‘natural luxe’?   Colour You’ll be seeing a lot more navy this winter with accents in lavender, taupe, dark green. I still saw lots of grey, but icy blues are also featuring. The overall look is soft and calm, but with a luxurious edge.

    Ceramics Anything too slick is on its way out. I saw A LOT of earthenware-style ceramic homewares, including tableware and home decor. Many of these pieces also incorporated a touch of colour including milky whites and pale pinks.

  A new take on metallics I think it’s safe to say that brass has definitely stolen copper’s mantle as the favourite metallic hue this coming season. It was everywhere! Especially in cutlery. But unlike previous seasons where we’ve seen quite shiny brass tones, this winter it is all about a softer, matte finish.

  Stones and crystals I saw this trend pop up at a few brands. I think we’re going to see a lot more of it in artworks especially. While the subject of ‘botanicals’ is still quite popular, stones and crystals will be the new go-to artwork themes.
