Perfect powder room ideas
3 April, 2020

It may be the smallest room in the house but with these ideas you might just create the perfect powder room. More often than not, a powder room will have a fairly simple structural design. And it will usually only house the essentials – a toilet and a handbasin. But remember, other than your living areas, it’s likely to be the room most visited by guests. So make it a good one!
Layout is a really important consideration in a powder room. The space is often tight, but there are a few things you can do improve accessibility.
Firstly, think about the kind of door you have on the room. If the door opens into the room, can people still easily move around the space? If not, a cavity sliding door or a barn-style door could be the best option. It ensures that precious floorspace is not taken up by a door.

Unless you have the space, resist the urge to add too much unnecessary storage. The idea when it comes to storage in a powder room is to just have enough to store essential items such as toilet paper and hand soap. An oversized vanity will only make the room feel cluttered and heavy. You might even lose the storage altogether and keep those toiletry items in a nearby linen cupboard.

Still want more powder room ideas? This one is important. Be sure to include a mirror in your space. Hanging a mirror above the basin is not only great from a functional point of view. But it will also help bounce light around the room and make it feel much larger. Look out for oval or round options to help break up all the straight lines.

And last but not least – have some fun with the design! Because we’re talking about a small room, any statement finishes you choose to include will add just the right amount of zing! For instance a coloured tile, that might feel overwhelming in a larger bathroom.
