HOMEWARES THAT MAKE YOU SMILE
27 October, 2015

Last week I finally managed to pop-in to Dear September in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. I have been stalking…errr… following… the store on Instagram for some time now but I am happy to say it’s even lovelier in the flesh.
This little gem is a one-stop-shop for all those special items that really make your house a home, including, ceramics, candles, rugs, books, tableware and much more.
Dear September is the brainchild of sisters Lauren and Sienna who opened the shop in Waverley about 15 months ago, having talked about the idea for many years.
“We love things that bring something special into the home, like you’ve purchased a piece of treasure – handmade rugs from Morocco, cotton throws from Turkey – things that are a little bit unique. We usually end up hunting things down that we have seen on our travels and that’s the way they end up in the shop. We fell in love with some Moroccan blankets so we tracked down a man who has a stall in the bazaar in Marrakech and got him to send us some!” says Lauren.
The sisters’ favourite things in store now are the Ahoy Trader pieces by artist Jai Vasicek.
“They are so popular with our customers but also make our store look so gorgeous and we think a little piece of artwork like his wall tiles is such a great gift idea. “
The dynamic duo also run regular crafty workshops at the shop where students can learn how to weave, work with leather or even make their own windcatcher. There are also some special Christmas workshops planned.
“The workshops are a great night out. We serve cheese and champagne and everyone has a chat and gets crafty! We usually find our creative teachers through the power of instagram and ask them if they would like to teach in our store.” Lauren says.
Dear September will also make your Christmas shopping a breeze this year with some VIP Shopping Nights planned (keep an eye on Instagram and the Dear September website for dates).
