HOMEWARE LOVE AT PROVIDER
22 May, 2015

We’re always on the look out for unique homewares. You know, those extra special little pieces that really turn a house into a home. And if it’s an Aussie brand, that’s even better! We love local, after all.
Provider is the brainchild of Sydneysider Tara Bennett. Starting it’s life as a vintage store in Surry Hills, Provider now produces a range of contemporary homewares with a focus on handmade goods and quality materials like concrete, copper, marble and linen.
“I have always had a passion for crafting and DIY, as well as homewares and design. I design Provider products to be simple, but beautiful. I just want to make people feel happy and comfortable in their home,” Tara says.
The Provider aesthetic is minimalist, but not cold. “I definitely take inspiration from Japanese and Scandinavian culture and design, but then I also have a real appreciation for French design as well, especially the beautiful linens.”
“I also find architecture really inspiring. There are so many great buildings around here and I love the mix of materials and finishes.”
Provider has just launched a new range of luxurious hand-poured candles housed in a marble vessel with a copper lid. With delicious scents such as Salted Caramel, Cinnamon Donut and Gingerbread, it’s going to be hard just to buy one!

“I like testing things out in my own home first. I live with it for a little while, see how I like it and how I use it, and then if I think it is something my customers would like too, then I go into production. If you saw my home, you would see the love that goes into creating Provider products. My kitchen is covered in melted wax and there’s concrete dust all over the verandah. I have a very understanding boyfriend!”
Staying true to her ethos of creating premium products, without the matching price tag, Tara has recently designed a range of affordable linen bedding including sheet sets and doona covers. The range is produced with soft french flax and will feature dreamy colours like grey, indigo and white. It’s due to launch later this year. Stay tuned.
